In the spring of 2015 Middlebury College was searching for full-time web developers to keep up with increased demand for services. I wasn’t interested in giving up my own business and time with my daughter to take on a full-time position with them, but I helped them three days per week for a couple months.
In addition to installing updates and other “trouble-ticket” tasks on their many WordPress sites, I also developed a plugin to allow site admins to embed Google Calendars using a “shortcode”. This was was needed because site admins are not allowed to enter HTML directly, which is the standard method to embed Google Calendars on a page. The plugin parses the various parameters in the shortcode and translates them into the appropriate HTML while not allowing anything that could cause problems. I also created documentation for their Wiki.Click here to visit site
